Ponies are breeds of horses that grow no taller than 14.2 hands high (58 inches) at the withers (the slight hump on their back at their shoulders). Wish is our only pony that is right on the borderline to being considered a horse. Pony breeds tend to have several personality traits that differ from those of horses. They tend to be more precocious and have more attitude than their taller, more dignified relations.

Dazzle and her colt, Pumpkin, are miniature horses. These are defined as horses that measure no more than either 34 or 38 inches at the withers, depending on which registry you consult.
